Lab Assignment due today (Mar 17)

  1. Choose a scene from a film to analyze (1.5 to 2 minutes)
  2. Watch the scene first without analyzing to get the overall emotion
  3. Go to http://dougburnett.com/filmanalysis
  4. Draw the emotional level across the graph
  5. Watch the scene again and track the pacing, writing down the shot number and the length of the shot on a piece of paper.
  6. Chart those shot lengths on the same graph
  7. Watch the scene again and track the framing, again writing them down on the shots
  8. Chart those the shot frames on the same graph
  9. Take a snap shot of the graph to save it (on a Mac press "Command + Shift + 4" and drag across the region you want to capture. The image appears on your desktop.
  10. Using your shot sheet, recreate the film scene
  11. Edit your film in Final Cut Pro to match the pacing and framing of the original scene.
  12. Upload your film and film analysis screenshot to this blog
